As part of its efforts to promote high-quality healthcare services in Edo State, the State Government has committed to working with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other pertinent parties to advance policies and initiatives that will improve healthcare for the State’s citizens.

During a meeting with WHO representatives at Government House in Benin City, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator, Office of the Edo State First Lady, reaffirmed the pledge.

Mrs. Anani while stressing the State Government’s dedication to driving quality healthcare services in the State, said, “We will do everything within our power to support you in your campaigns. We believe in your vision for our community, and we are committed to helping you make it a reality. However, I must stress that in your events and campaigns, our women and children should also be included. Their perspectives and needs are crucial to building a thriving and equitable society.”

She said that the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo is committed to the health of Edo citizens, especially women and children, and promised to work with WHO on their health campaigns and programs.

In carrying out their health programs and initiatives, the office of the Edo State First Lady must work together, according to WHO State Coordinator Dr. Eyo Nora. She also mentioned that the moms’ trust will be strengthened by Mrs. Anani’s presence during their campaigns, which will also motivate the health professionals to provide services more effectively and efficiently.

According to Dr. Eyo, “As mothers take their babies to the hospital to be immunized, we need to encourage the health workers to let them take their work seriously.”

She talked about the significance of their immunization and vaccination efforts, as well as grassroots sensitization, and how they helped lower the state’s risk of avoidable diseases.

Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomole, the Commissioner for Health, was present.  The WHO representatives gave Mrs. Anani a memento as the meeting came to a close.
