In a statement commemorating the occasion, Mrs. Joy I. Ihensiekien, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Edo State, emphasized the vital role women play in forming communities and propelling progress while highlighting the state’s commitment to advancing women’s rights and fostering gender equality.
The Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs joined the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025, highlighting the strength, resilience, and advancement of women worldwide.
“Today, we stand together in a global celebration of the remarkable achievements and unwavering spirit of women across the world,” Mrs. Ihensiekien stated.
“In Edo State, we join hands with our sisters near and far, acknowledging the profound impact women have made in shaping our communities, our nation, and our world.”
“This year’s focus, aligned with the global celebration, centers on creating an environment where every woman and girl in Edo State can flourish.”
Mrs. Ihensiekien highlighted women’s diverse contributions, recognizing them as pillars of families, community leaders, industry innovators, and advocates for justice and equality.
The Ministry of Women Affairs acknowledged the ongoing obstacles and disparities and reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering policies and initiatives that support women’s economic empowerment, advancing girls’ and women’s access to high-quality healthcare and education, preventing gender-based violence, protecting the safety and security of all women, and promoting women’s representation and leadership in all areas of society.
“We acknowledge the challenges that persist, the inequalities that remain, and the work that still needs to be done,”
she said. “The Ministry of Women Affairs, Edo State, is resolute in its commitment” to these goals.
