Okpebholo gave the contractors strict instructions to adhere to the requirements, threatening to terminate the agreement if the work was not up to par.

Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki on Monday issued a warning on Wednesday to contractors working on state projects to adhere to deadlines and specifications or risk contract termination. While examining ongoing drainage and road projects in Benin, Okpebholo issued a warning and voiced concern with some of the projects’ sluggish progress.

He was especially critical of the contractor working on Orior-Ozolua Road, where locals had voiced their displeasure about the contractor’s lack of presence. In addition, the governor and his crew examined other projects at the Army Cantonment’s Upper Ekenhuan open drain, Orior Uteh Palace Road, New Uteh Road, and Ekiuwa quarters.

The people prayed for the governor’s success and greeted him with appreciation in each of the places they visited, pointing out that the previous government had purportedly ignored their needs.

Sylvester Igbinovia, a resident of Orior-Ozolua Community, urged the governor to step in and expressed worries about the contractor’s sluggish development and irregular presence on the property.

Okpebholo, who also conducted an inspection of the drainage project in Orior-Ozolua, was unhappy with the contractor’s noncompliance with the specifications.

“Why did you reduce the width of the drain? You reduced it on both sides. Look at my face. If you are not doing the right thing and not working according to specifications, I can revoke the contract at any moment without fear or favour.

” I need you to do a quality job. The resources belong to the people and must be utilized effectively and efficiently,” Okpebholo warned

He threatened to terminate the contract unless the contractor fixed the mistake.

The governor gave the contractors strict instructions to adhere to the requirements, threatening to cancel the contract if the work was not up to par. He asserts that prudent use of public resources is necessary.
