The Police Machine FC defeated the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FC in the second edition of the Kada Unity Cup, which was sponsored by former Edo State Governor Chief Lucky Igbinedion in partnership with the Edo State Federation Association.
The Police Boys, who had won the first edition last year, successfully defended the trophy after defeating NSCDC 4–2.
The final match, which took place at Chief Lucky Igbinedion Sports Centre in Benin, drew a sizable crowd of football fans and enthusiasts, including members of the various military and paramilitary football clubs that competed.
The Directorate of Security Service (DSS) FC lost to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) FC 4-1 prior to the final game, earning the third-place trophy. The awarding of medals, trophies, and prizes to teams and individual athletes that excelled in the competition were highlights of the Unity Cup final.
The Police Machine squad took home N1 million for their efforts, followed by N500,000 for second-place NSCDC and N300,000 for NAF. Buhari of NAF FC received the N100,000 Highest Goal Scorer award for his seven goals. Additionally, Lazarus of NAF FC received N100,000 from Fast Microfinance Bank as the Most Valuable Player, while Believe Okoro of DSS FC won N100,000 from ITV/Radio as the Best Goalkeeper.
