Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, emphasized the importance of women’s participation in agricultural programs in order to increase food security and agricultural growth while also empowering women.
At a meeting with LIFE-ND delegates at the Office of the First Lady, Government House, Benin City, this call to action was made.
“We are here to ensure there is food security,” Mrs. Anani said, underscoring the significance of fostering agricultural development and guaranteeing food security. One of the initiatives the governor has chosen to focus on during this term is agriculture. We seek to guarantee financial stability, economic growth, employment, and food security.
She also emphasized the vital role that women play in the economy by highlighting their many attributes and strengths. “The foundation of the economy is women.” We are dependable, powerful, industrious, and accomplished. Mrs. Anani commented on LIFE-ND’s effort, saying, “We are here because our women and youths need to be carried along in your project.”
Mrs. Anani suggested that mechanisms be established to guarantee the project’s longevity, such as mentors to assist participants and ways to gauge their influence on others.
Mr. John Omoruyi, LIFE-ND’s Project Coordinator, thanked the government for its assistance in his remarks. He mentioned that in the 2025 budget, Governor Monday Okpebholo set aside 1.6 billion for LIFE-ND Plus.
