The Police Training School in Benin City, Edo State, produced no fewer than 493 police constables from Edo and Delta States.
Among the 10,000 police constables from the 2022 intake, Course 3 of 2024 of the Nigeria Police recruiting were the 493 new hires. This was said by Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), at the staff passing-out parade at the Police Training School in Ogida, Benin City, on Thursday.
The training and passing-out parade of the constables took place across four police colleges and twelve police formations across the country, according to Egbetokun, who was represented by Arungwa Nwazue Udochukwu, the Assistant Inspector-General of Zone 5, Benin City.
The activity was in accordance with President Bola Tinubu’s pledge to address the manpower shortage in the Nigerian Police by hiring 30,000 police officers nationally to check the security concerns facing the nation, according to Udochukwu, in charge of Zone 5, which includes Edo and Delta
States.
