In order to improve learning, Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo has authorized the State Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to hire 500 teachers.
This was announced on Wednesday in Benin by Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu, the Commissioner for Education, who was sworn in by Okpebholo on Monday after being confirmed as such by the state House of Assembly.
The new commissioner reaffirmed the importance that the Okpebholo-led administration places on the education sector and stressed that the hiring would be carried out in phases.
“Government is committed to ensuring that all public schools in Edo are adequately staffed by qualified teachers.”
“The era of having two or three teachers in a school is gone and I am calling on qualified Nigerians
