Following a successful state congress in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, the Edo State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) over the weekend installed a new group of executives to lead the party’s operations for the ensuing four years.
With the entire support of Congress, Mr. John Agbaje was re-elected as the state chairman, and a number of other new officers were also elected.
Mr. Agbaje thanked the NNPP members for re-electing him and reiterated his pledge to forge a more powerful party in his acceptance address. He urged cooperation and togetherness, emphasizing that the party could only achieve significant advancements by working together.
“I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility for another four years. This victory is for all of us. It is a victory to serve the people and take our party to greater heights. Together, we will work to realize our goal of having a presence in Osadebe House, the seat of government in Edo State,” Agbaje said.
Agbaje also set high goals for the party, promising to develop candidates for important political posts, including the Ovia North and Ovia South Federal Constituencies and the open Edo-Central Senatorial seat. From local councils to the national level, he urged party members to get ready for the next elections.
He also made emphasis on the importance of grassroots engagement, noting that, “True victory in politics comes from connecting with the grassroots. We must ensure that all candidates are given a fair chance to present their vision and engage with the people directly. This is the key to winning elections.”
The newly elected executives are expected to play a pivotal role in mobilizing the party’s supporters and driving its political agenda forward.
