At a cybercrime training facility in Benin, the capital of Edo State, 25 suspected online scammers have been taken into custody by EFCC agents.
This was revealed in a statement released by the EFCC on Friday, January 17, 2025. According to the anti-graft agency, the alleged online scammers were captured on Thursday, January 16, by the commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate agents.
It said that reliable information indicating the apartment was being used as a Yahoo Academy or training school for internet-related fraud and other fraudulent activities led to the defendants’ arrest at their hiding place.
Among the items found on the suspects’ list were phones, laptops, and six exotic cars, according to the EFCC.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” it added.
