In a chat with City and Crime yesterday in Benin about the accomplishments of the command in 2024, Efosa Ogbebor, the spokesman for the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), revealed that the command had arrested 110 suspects involved in various crimes in the state last year.
He said that the suspects were arrested by the command between January and December 2024 throughout the state for a variety of offenses, including illegal mining, crude oil theft, and other offenses. The intelligence and investigation unit of the command arrested five of the suspects for illegal mining, 47 for crude oil theft, and 58 for other offenses.
Ogbebor added that in the year under review, the command was also involved in the detection and demarcation of danger zones, such as potholes, in federal and state highways with the express objective of averting calamities.
He continued by saying that the command’s agents worked with the federal and state fire service departments to protect lives and property in the state by battling fires, especially in residential buildings.
In order to eradicate crude oil theft and other crimes in the state, he promised that the command would not give up.
