Chief Isah Umoru Osikhekha has been appointed the Ovbiotse (Village Head) of Ivbiokhulotor Village, Ubuneke, in the Ivbiaro Clan, Owan East Local Council of Edo State, by the village’s elders and residents.
As the most senior member of the community, he was installed by the heads of the village’s various quarters in accordance with local customs and traditions. This was included in the Chieftaincy Declaration, which governs the Ivbiokhulotor village headship succession as well as that of the entire Ivbiaro Clan. Chief Y. A. Ekhagba, the village’s third in charge, assisted Chief Mohammed Oyagha, the second in command, in performing the symbolic ceremony. He conveyed the importance of the event.
Speaking shortly after his installation, the Ovbiotse (Village Head), Chief Isah Umoru Osikhekha thanked the people for the honour done him and promised to lead the community on the path of peace, and prosperity for the benefit of all.
He claimed that the Ivbiaro Chieftaincy Declaration, which upholds the customary laws and practices that grant authority to the oldest men in each village within the Ivbiaro Clan, including Ebese, Ivbiokhulotor Usun, and Ivbiosogbe, is what his official installation as the Village Head of Ivbiokhulotor complies with.
The Ovbiotse urged everyone in the village to work together with him in order to realize their shared goals and aspirations of becoming one of the most exemplary progressive communities in Edo State and the country. He said that the event was especially special because it was the first time it had been done that way since the law governing the Ivbiaro Chieftaincy was passed.
“It’s my expectation that elders and people of Ivbiokhulotor Village support and embrace the new world order with regard to the processes leading to the appointment of a Village Head, “ the Ovbiotse emphasised.
He took use of the occasion to congratulate Ivbiaro HRH Alimu Abu Oshame on a prosperous reign and to swear his unwavering allegiance to his authority. In a succinct statement, Abdulkarim Ozoya Yusuf asked the Ovbiotse to include everyone in community management, and he also urged the village elders and chiefs to assist and collaborate with the Ovbiotse in this respect.
According to Yusuf, the candidate for this honorable position must be the most senior man in any of the four Ivbiaro Clan villages, including Ivbiokhulotor Village. The Ovbiotse’s ornamentation, which represented the installation, was the ceremony’s high point.
