Former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has been nominated for award in the “Governor of the Year” category.
“When the Going Gets Tough… the Tough Get Rewarded!” will be the subject of the event, which is scheduled for January 22, 2025. “That governor who combines vision, passion, dedication, and courage to make the lives of the people of his state better” will receive the award, according to the organizers.
Obaseki’s accomplishments in a number of fields, such as healthcare and education, are really admirable, according to former Edo commissioner Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor.
According to Ifaluyi-Isibor, Obaseki was a visionary who had an unmatched zeal for improving the lives of his people and a hunger for greatness.
“In his eight years of leadership of Edo, Obaseki’s milestone achievements in education, healthcare, innovation, tourism, agriculture, pension, city planning, security, science, civil service and corporate governance are laudable footprints that will stand the test of time,” he said.
“His landmark achievements in the creation of the Edo State Tier-3 Data Centre, which facilitated digital services management for government agencies, the deployment of Health Information Management System, Electronic Health Records and Telemedicine Services, helped to streamline healthcare delivery, improve patient management and extend healthcare access to rural communities.”
Mayozi John, a journalist in the UK, said Obaseki has been Edo state’s best governor since 1999.
John mentioned Obaseki’s exceptional leadership, including digitization of pension management and innovative education initiatives, sets a high standard for others to follow.
