Senator Adams Oshiomhole has been forewarned by Senate President Godswill Akpabio that if he returns to the Senate, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo may retire him.
Speaking on the floor of the Upper Legislative Chamber on Wednesday at the Senate’s farewell session in honor of Okpebholo, Akpabio voiced concerns regarding Oshiomhole’s future. Oshiomhole revealed that Okpebholo is from a separate senatorial district, dismissing Akpabio’s concerns.
Okpebholo served as the senatorial representative for Edo Central before winning the governorship.
Speaking during the valedictory session, Akpabio stated: “Distinguished Senator Oshiomhole, before you stop, I thought he was from your senatorial district?”
“No, sir, he’s from Edo Central,” Oshiomhole responded.
Continuing, Akpabio said: “Okay, otherwise he may retire you when he comes back.”
“By the time he’s coming back, I might already be retired, because if you add eight years to the current figure, I do not intend to do three terms here,” Oshiomhole quipped.
