In furtherance of his students – centred endeavours, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, has met with representatives of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, or NELFUND, as part of his student-centered initiatives to explore the possibility of increasing the number of Uniben students enrolled in the program.
Professor Omoregie pleaded for more possibilities for additional beneficiaries and bemoaned what he called the existing appalling enrollment rates.
The Vice Chancellor was welcomed by Mr. Mustapha Iyal, Executive Director, Operations of NELFUND, who congratulated him on his well-earned position among other officials. He determined that the main causes of the poor enrollment were insufficient sensitization and skepticism regarding the fund’s legitimacy.
Mr Iyal expressed readiness of the scheme to include as many students of the University as possible only if they apply and meet the guidelines.
Professor Omoregie is expected to visit other organisations as part of his networking agenda
