Dr. Paddy Iyamu, the chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), welcomed the scholar at his office to honor the accomplishments of Mr. James Ojo Alleh, the top graduating student from the University of Benin and a native of Akoko Edo.
Allen became the best scorer since the university’s founding in 1970 with an exceptional CGPA of 4.98/5.0 in Petroleum Engineering.
Allen discussed his financial difficulties during the meeting, which forced him to teach before he was awarded the Bedrock Scholarship in 2022. He claimed that his academic performance was largely due to the mentorship and scholarship program.
In his remarks, Iyamu expressed immense pride in Allen’s accomplishments, saying, “this is what we strive for – enabling young leaders to realise their potential proving that anyone from humble beginnings can achieve greatness.”
To further celebrate his success, Iyamu awarded Allen N1 million, acknowledging his hard work and potential, in addition to the star prize he won from the University of Benin.
