Umar Musa Ikhilor, the Secretary to the Edo State Government (SSG), revealed this during a ceremony in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government of Edo State, where his charitable act benefited hundreds of people.

During his inaugural speech at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the governor announced that his administration would offer soft loans to young people, small businesses, and market women to help them acquire the skills they need to be self-reliant.

9As hundreds of people from the ten local government wards got instruments for empowerment that may change their lives, the SSG reaffirmed his lifelong commitment to poverty reduction and community development, supporting the governor’s position.

The Okpebholo-led administration’s goal is to assist small companies and increase self-reliance throughout the State, and Barr. Ikhilor gave the people access to motorcycles, sewing, grinding, and welding machines.

He said; “As someone who is not a career politician and a man of few words, my philanthropic journey began long ago with the mission of assisting people. Today’s empowerment programme reflects my unwavering commitment to creating opportunities that uplift lives and foster a more dignified existence for all.”

He urged those who have not yet benefited from any empowerment initiatives to exercise patience, assuring that the administration of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is working tirelessly to create a peaceful and prosperous environment for all.

The programme coordinator, Hon. Henshaw Oligbi, emphasized that Barr. Ikhilor’s philanthropic legacy precedes his recent appointment, highlighting his longstanding commitment to service.

“Over the years, Barr. Ikhilor has spearheaded notable projects such as building a new mosque in his village, Ujabhole, modernizing the central mosque in Irrua, awarding scholarships to students in secondary and Tertiary Institutions”, he recalled.

Mr. Lucky Ejabhayo, a beneficiary from Ward 10 Ugbegun, stated that he had heard about Barr. Ikhilor’s charitable endeavors, expressed gratitude for his efforts, and pledged to take advantage of the chance to improve his and his family’s quality of life.

Prince Willy Shaka Momodu, the leader of the APC Esan Central, Hon. Rawlins Ason Ekeoba, the chairman of the APC Esan Central Local Government, and Engr. Chief Stainless Ijeghede, the managing director of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA), were among the other guests at the event.
